Foundational knowledge

For as long as I can remember, I knew I wanted a career that involved art and creative thinking, so I never envisioned ending up in the left-brained financial services sector! After working as a graphic designer in the printing industry for many years. In 2000, I became a marketing specialist/designer at a large, independent Broker/Dealer. The job required obtaining my Series 7 license, and that rigorous exam was exhausting! But having a deep understanding of what financial professionals do, how they serve their clients, plus all the rules, regulations, and guidelines they have to operate within, has enabled me to provide real value in what I do.

I gained so much knowledge and experience over two and a half decades. But having spent so many years as an employee, I was extremely excited to finally "hang my own shingle" when I launched Bellwether Graphics in 2025.

Throughout two and a half decades employed in the B/D space:

  • I wrote, designed, and built countless advisor-facing and client-facing marketing pieces, including the award-winning "Imagine Your Life Without Limits" suite of tools;

  • I was a 1-on-1 coach and session presenter at national conferences;

  • I helped launch and created marketing materials for a new Financial Institutions Division (supporting advisors in Banks and Credit Unions);

  • I was recognized with the "Employee of the Year" Award (only 13 months after joining the firm!);

  • I handled both corporate recruiting and OSJ/branch recruiting efforts with custom, targeted marketing campaigns and materials (including a comprehensive packaged recruiting kit);

  • and I formed hundreds of wonderful relationships with financial advisors, working with them to address their marketing needs, improve their brand, and help them build stickier client relationships through target-specific messaging.

It's about "Iowa Nice"

I was born and raised in Iowa and have lived my whole life in and around the state. When you grow up in the Midwest, you quickly learn we adhere to a certain set of standards:

  • be polite and say "Hello!" to strangers on the sidewalk;

  • respect your elders;

  • treat others as you want to be treated;

  • your word is your bond -- so keep it;

  • and focus on what's important: family, work, religion... and college sports. Not necessarily in that order.

And let's not forget working hard. In case you've never worked with a Midwesterner before, it really is true what they say about "that Midwest work ethic." From a young age, Midwesterners are raised to never stop learning. And don't stop working until the work is done. And, for goodness' sake, be dependable. My goal is ALWAYS to exceed your expectations and make every interaction a pleasant one.

Over time and through an ongoing, trusted partnership, we'll develop a comfortable rhythm as I get to know you and your business. My goal is to take as much work as possible off your plate so you can focus on what really matters: helping your clients target their financial goals.
